A UPS is an uninterruptible power supply. It is basically a battery box with outlets that plugs into the wall to provide battery backup in the event of a power outage. I have one which is used for the modem, NAS, and ATA. In addition, my printer also plugs into the UPS. However, I will need to move my printer, and especially if I get an ATA for the printer. I will therefore need a UPS for the printer, and ATA. I will also want one for the charging station for my phone, earphones, and watch.
The UPS is capable and will serve my needs well enough. It is however, about $75 which is a small hit. It is however from APC which is one of the better UPS brands out there.
